SR22 Insurance
How to File an SR22
Informational only. This article does not constitute insurance, legal, or financial advice. Coverage terms vary by carrier, policy, and jurisdiction. Full disclaimer.
Your insurance carrier files the SR22 for you electronically. In some states, you can still get a paper copy of the SR22 to bring to the DMV yourself.
Keep in mind that some locations won't accept a paper SR22 or FR44 filing at all, and will instead require the electronic filing to be received and confirmed before your license or registration is reinstated. It's worth planning ahead — reach out to us as soon as you think you'll need a filing.
Even though filings are processed electronically, some DMVs and courts have a lag time between the day you're filed and the day it shows as processed on their end.
